Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can severe Headache Along With Upset Stomach Be Treated?
My son overheats very easily. Even when outside temp if not that hot and exposure is brief. Other children will be with him and have no reaction. When he does overheat it usually starts with a headache and quickly turns to an upset stomach. He then becomes tired and weak, and it often takes several hours to recouperate. He is drinking plenty of fluids....before, during, and after outside activities. Is there a possible underlying cause? Our pediatrician did not seem concerned.
Some children might feel hot but their central temperature is normal. I would recommend you to check his oral temperature when he feels hot and if it is less then 37.5 C then there is nothing to worry. It is good he takes fluids during activities. It is important to avoid sun as well, so having a hat and avoiding activities in the hot hours of the day is recommended.
If the temperature does not reach 37.5 C and your pediatrician has done a physical examination and is not worried then very likely there is nothing to worry but just be cautious as explained above to avoid what is called heat stroke.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
